The Explorer electric wheelchair carries two 24 V lithium batteries instead of one, which stretches a single charge to between 18 and 25 km. That is the difference between planning your day around the battery and simply going out. Twin 300 W motors back it up, pulling the chair along at up to 8 km/h.

This power wheelchair is built for comfort over distance. Eight shock absorbers and 12-inch air-filled rear tyres soak up broken paving and driveway lips that would jolt a smaller chair. In addition, the magnesium-aluminium alloy frame keeps the whole thing rigid without turning it into dead weight.
