Explorer & SmartChair Joystick Controller

Explorer and SmartChair Joystick Controller for Precise Steering

The Explorer and SmartChair joystick controller is the replacement 360-degree joystick for three of our electric wheelchairs: the Explorer, the SmartChair Auto-Folding and the SmartChair Reclining. One controller fits all three models, and its joystick steers each of them precisely. In addition, the chair’s electromagnetic brake holds it still the moment you let go of the joystick, which matters on a slope or a ramp.

Order a replacement joystick controller when yours has been damaged, has worn out or has stopped responding. However, not every driving fault starts in the controller, so if you are not sure where the problem lies, contact us before you order and we will help you check.

Will This Replacement Joystick Controller Fit Your Chair?

This replacement joystick controller fits the Explorer and both SmartChair models as we sell them today. The Explorer Lite and the Explorer Air models have their own controllers, and we have also not confirmed this one for the older Explorer we sold under the same name or for our KD Smart wheelchairs. A quick way to check is to compare the photos on this page with the controller on your chair, and if anything looks different, get in touch first. If you bought your chair from us, your invoice or order date also helps us confirm which model you have.
